Weston Riffle
Weston Riffle was born and raised in La Mesa in San Diego, California. He received his bachelor’s degree from San Diego State and his master’s from San Jose State. He is a mostly self-taught painter who describes himself as an anti-artist. His work portrays the beauty and culture of California, specifically the southern and agricultural regions. “I wish to express the simple purity of the people and places I have known. The general theme is the struggle of the individual against forces not clearly understood.” Weston has won a number of awards, has exhibited extensively in southern California and has work in the permanent collection of the Steinbeck Museum.
